Overview: Honda Pilot TrailSport

Three rows. Real off-road capability. Honda reliability.

The Pilot TrailSport is for families who actually go camping, towing, or down the dirt road to the cabin. Honda equipped it with 31-inch General Grabber A/T Sport tires, steel skid plates protecting the engine and fuel tank, recovery points, an off-road tuned suspension with longer travel, and unique TrailSport badging. The interior gets orange contrast stitching and TrailSport logos to remind you this isn't a regular Pilot.

How It Compares to Competitors

The Pilot TrailSport competes with the Toyota 4Runner TRD (which only offers two rows in most configurations), the Jeep Grand Cherokee L Trailhawk, and the Ford Explorer Timberline. Honda's edge: it's the most refined three-row off-roader on the road.

Expert Review

We tested the Pilot TrailSport on rocky dirt roads in Colorado and never needed low-range gearing — Honda's i-VTM4 system handled everything we threw at it. The interior remained comfortable enough for a six-hour highway drive home.
